Sweden

The Swedish national team is already preparing for the start of the Euros, in which they will face Spain, Slovakia and Poland. The Swedes have agreed to a friendly against Armenia, in theory a weaker opponent, in order to test their level.

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s injury, the Swedes have lost a key player, but their attacking arsenal is still very strong with players like Alexander Isak, Emil Forsberg and Marcus Berg.

Interestingly, this will be the first meeting between the two sides.

Armenia

The arrival of Joaquin Caparros to the Armenian national team has meant a complete turnaround for the Armenians; from being a team that lost to Gibraltar a couple of years ago, they have become a very competitive team that present a significant challenge for any opposing team.

In the Armenian squad, star player Henrick Mkhitaryan is notably absent. However, the Armenians have still managed to win their last few matches without the player.

Key Stats

  • Four consecutive wins for Sweden
  • Four consecutive matches without conceding goals for Sweden
  • No losses in their last nine games for Armenia
  • Four of Armenia’s last five games have ended with under 2.5 total goals

Sweden vs Armenia Predictions

Although the Armenians are on a good run going into this match, we think the Swedes can win this match, especially as they will be playing in front of home fans. The Armenians drew their last match against Croatia on Tuesday, a lucky result perhaps thanks to Croatia missing a lot of chances on goal.

Even if Sweden do, in fact, win, we don’t expect a high-scoring match as the Armenians have improved defensively.
