14:40 Wolverhampton – Savannah Beau @ 6/1

The second race at Wolverhampton on Wednesday afternoon looks as good a place as any for Iain Jardine’s Savannah Beau to get back on track after a disappointing showing last time out.

In winning at Class 5 level on three occasions prior to this event, the mare has plenty of encouraging form in the book and, if all is well, she should be capable of running a big race in this field.

Having never previously won over 6f, Savannah Beau moved to Jardine’s stable around October time – a change which saw an immediate turnaround in fortunes as she swooped late to take a 14 runner Class 5 event at Newcastle in November. Move forward 14 days and she ran no sort of race whatsoever when upped in trip at the same venue, although against some decent types, this was probably the wrong move.

Now back at what looks the optimum trip of 6f, the mare might just have been found the perfect opportunity to bounce back. There doesn’t appear to be much depth in this field of eight, while it’s questionable as to whether a number of the runners are ideally suited to the trip.

With four wins to her name at this level, Savannah Beau is easily the most prolific winner in here, while she’s also ran a number of good races at a higher level. Some of her placed form from a while back would suggest that a mark of 70, in a race of this nature, certainly isn’t beyond her.

For a trainer and jockey who both go well together at this venue, Savannah Beau is worth supporting, especially at the prices.
