Russian Premier League player admits he took part in fixed match
“The strangest match in my career? It’s the away game against the Caucasian team. I was playing a physical game for the entire first half and did not understand why no one from my team mates didn’t want to attack. At half-time I approached one experienced player. “Do you not see what’s going on?” he asked. “Now I see.” I went to the coach immediately, said that I felt bad, and didn’t come out in the second half,” Tarasov told Bolshoy Sport magazine.
The professional career of 28-year-old Dmitry Tarasov currently includes three clubs, Tom Tomsk, FC Moskva and Lokomotiv Moscow. The journalists of SovSport held a mini-investigation and found out that the description fits two matches. Spartak Nalchik – Tom (1: 1), played in the Russian League in November 2008 and Terek – Lokomotiv (3: 1) in the Russian Cup in 2012.
Both Nalchik and Terek have allegedly played several fixed matches in Russia, but each time local football authorities failed to prove anything.
