The Pistons acquired Walker from the New York Knicks on draft day along with center Jalen Duren, who was selected at No. 13. In return, Detroit gave New York the first-round pick of the 2025 draft, obtained from Portland in a trade involving Jerami Grant.
Walker’s contract runs until the end of the 2022/23 season, for which he is due $9.2 million.
Walker averaged 11.6 points and 3.5 assists per game for the Knicks last season and is out of Tom Thibodeau’s rotation.
